FEATURING 6 HAND-COLORED FOLDOUT MAPS + FINE ENGRAVINGS

13 x 105/8 inches. Folio.

6 blank pages, 1 engraved title leaf, 2 full page engraved frontis plates, viii, 9-371, 1 blank end leaf. With 6 fold-out hand colored maps + a total of 8 full page engravings (including the 2 frontis). Complete.

Very good overall condition, tight and square, with wear to exteriors and professional repairs to the leather spine. Old notes in ink and pencil to the front and back blank leaves, moderate foxing to pages throughout, some repairs with Japanese paper to tears on fold-outs. Some staining to the upper edges of pages, affecting roughly the first 1/3 of the volume, with the worst seen on the first blank preliminary leaves. The stain runs faintly through the pages to some degree, and mostly faint. It becomes noticeable on page 25, and very notable on pages 50-59, and again visible to some degree on pages 90-117, and once again on pages 123-136 (see photos). Note that the plates are in nice, clean condition with neat repairs to the tears to the versos.
