Finely bound by Zaehnsdorf in dark green, gold tooled morocco over hand marbled boards with top page edges gilt.

A massive volume measuring 211/4 x 16 inches with 32 tissue-guarded, full page plates.

Volume is in fine condition in it's original slipcase which shows some minor wear. Rarely found in this condition.

Book plate of ornithologist and collector W.S. Conradie affixed to first blank leaf.

[1 blank leaf]+[1 leaf half title with description of frontis plate verso]+[1 leaf title with colophon and limitation verso]+[2 leaves of Contents and Acknowledgements]+[1 leaf Preface]+[3 leaves of Introduction and double pages of Maps]+[Plates numbered 1 to 31, each tissue -guarded and with an accompanying leaf of description]+[1 leaf Index of Plates]+[1 end leaf]. Complete.
