A beautiful and stringent reproduction of Manuscript 302, which is housed in the Cantonal Library (Vadiana) of St. Gallen.
121/2 x 9 inches. Thick and heavy quarto.
A large and heavy volume bound in full leather with 5 raised bands, blind stamped boards with 5 brass rosettes nailed to both front and back covers and with 2 brass and leather fitted clasps.
Featuring beautiful script and 58 gilt illuminated, coloured miniature illustrations on heavy stock paper.
Released in 1982, the volume is of highest quality from the leather and paper to the hand stitching and apparently having an original price of approximately 10000 USD.
[1 blank end leaf] + Weltchronik: [1-214 (page opposing page 1 is blank)] + Charlemagne: [1-76 (with unnumbered page to verso of page 76)] +[ 1 leaf Colophon/Limitation page] . Pages numbered on upper left corners with each number counting as 2 opposing pages. Complete.
In near fine condition with binding square and very tight, likely one of the few times this volume has ever been opened was when we photographed and collated it. Exteriors show minor flaws with upper corner of front cover lightly bumped, a bit of chafing to the upper raised band and leather to the upper edge of front cover slightly lighter (hardly a flaw as this is likely just the character of this piece of leather).
