From the monumental work: 'Twenty Four Views Taken in St. Helena, the Cape, India, Ceylon, Abyssinia & Egypt' published in 1809.

Hand-coloured aquatint on thick J. Whatman wove paper. ('J. Whatman' watermark visible under light, but could not make out the date).

Frame: 321/4 x 26  inches

Sheet size: 293/4 x 203/4   to 21 inches

Platemarks: 253/4 x 187/8 inches

Actual image (including letters): just over 235/8 x approximately 171/2 inches

Print was removed to observe condition, dimensions, watermarks, etc. Old cedar backing was replaced with acid-free board.

Nicely matted with hand-drawn and hand-coloured borders. 19th century gilded frame showing minor wear. Back of print showing some foxing.
