POETRY AND PROSE

Dublin: Joseph Hill, 1800.

61/2 x 41/4 inches

Likely original binding of leather over marbled boards, blind stamping to covers, gilt tooling to spine with gilt morocco title. Accompanied by an old type written research note loosely laid in.

1834 Montreal ink inscription to back of title page of Masonic Miscellanies + 1853 Montreal ink written provenance by Masonic brothers to first blank leaf.

[4 blank end pages]+[full page frontis engraving]+[title leaf]+[1-78 (end of Ahiman Rezon)]+[vi] + [1-270 (Masonic Miscellanies) ]+[4 blank end pages].  Appears complete but was difficult to collate as both titles are quite scarce.

In good condition. Exteriors showing wear to edges and scuffing to boards, leather partly cracked at of the joints with leather spine lifting on one side at the top. Interiors in generally very good condition with minor foxing and toning throughout with a few pages having some small stains, hinge cracked at the front, tears with loss to the outer edge of the frontis page and at the top edge of the title, small part of corner of pages 269/270 torn away with no loss to text. Otherwise volume is tight.
