SILVER RUSSIAN ICON
Our Lady of Kazan (Virgin Mary and Jesus)
Beautifully displayed in a period, ornate, carved gilt wood shadow box frame.
Fine example of repoussé work, embellished and covered with silver and gilt oklad/riza.
We were able to remove the icon from the frame to observe and photograph it. No silver mark was noticed.
Undated but circa 1890.

111/2 x 81/2 inches (approximate measurement of the actual icon within shadow frame)
In fine condition with the frame's paper backing brittle and chipping and degrading.
