A rare and original, double-sided poster from Hunter S. Thompson’s 1970–1971 "Freak Power" campaign for Sheriff of Pitkin County, Colorado. With art by Thomas W. Benton, featuring an altered American flag with white dollar signs ($) replacing the stars and bleeding red stripes over the text "FAT CITY USA"—a political critique of corporate influence and local development. Typewritten Gonzo prose by Hunter S. Thompson to the back with: "Would you sell peyote to this man?" and "The Rape of Number Six".

211/2 x 151/2 inches

2 small closed tears to the left edge of poster. Small spot of what looks like tape residue to the lower edge. Some light, faint and hardly visible creasing to top right corner. Otherwise clean and fine.
